Today's speaker is Mike Craine, the intrepid leader of the Livingston County Road Department. A regular Rotary speaker, Mike will help us understand what is going on with the major road projects. While you are in a pensive mood, think what the roads were like in Livingston County in 1906 and what they will be like in 2106.
Martin Luther King Day: Today is the anniversary of the great civil rights leader who helped to bring a measure of equality to African-Americans. What is so significant is that this development was - for the most part - peaceful.
Rotary Changes: The Rotary Board has asked all members to pay for both Rotary dues and lunches for the next six months. This will help to make the club financial situation better and to improve the Secretary's and the Treasurer's jobs.
The Board has also appointed Kim Dane as the Membership Chair. Kim and her committee have already made steps to bring in new members and to retain present ones. Next is developing a committee to promote Rotary Fundraising, some projects that will be important to club spirit and to the bottom line.
Please support the Board in these attempts to improve Rotary.

Last Week: Thanks to Sam Vasiu for inviting such an interesting guest speaker - the hypnotist and artist with an enlightening message and wonderful stories. He could have continued for another hour for sure. Although one Rotarian felt gipped: "How come we didn't get to make someone strut about and crow like a rooster?"
Humor:
1. Two vultures board an airplane, each carrying two dead racoons. The attendant looks at them and says, "I'm sorry, only one carrion allowed per passenger."
2. Two eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly but when they lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.
3. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. "But why?" they asked as they moved off. "Because," he said, "I can't stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer."
