Howell Rotary News - 2-28-11

 

Rick Scofield will be talking about "International Business" at Monday's meeting.  Rick has had business connections in England, Mexico and the United States.  He'll share with us the intricacies of doing business in a global market.

 

The Rotary Board will meet today at 11 a.m.

 

Congratulations, Howell Rotarians!   The Walk for Warmth was an incredible success thanks to everyone 'stepping up' their support (and Kathleen Zaenger's great leadership).  Our club raised $1,815 to help with utility-related emergencies for area families in need.  Way to go!  Our fundraisers / walkers included Bruce McCullen, Patti Griffith (and her son and daughter), Peter Bowen, Molly Burk (and her two kids), Steve and Pat Manor, Pat Convery, John and Martha Hubbell, Jeanne Clum, and Kathleen Zaenger.  Additional sponsorship support was provided by the Howell Rotary Club general fund, Sandie Cortez, Kim Dane, Howard Dillman, Jay Drick, John Fellows, Mike Hall, Jeff Hansen, Ron Hingst, Wayne Russell, Milt Sandling, Sam Vasiu, Ron Wilson and Mike Yost.  (Jean Chaffee had a team of 50+ people walking in her daughter's honor as well.) Thanks to everyone for an outstanding showing for our community!

Welcome to our newest member:  Dennis Perkins.  At last week's meeting, Pat Convery had the honor of inducting Dennis Perkins, a Howell-area attorney, as our newest member.  Dennis is active in many community activities already - we're sure he'll be a tremendous addition to our great team as well.  Be sure to sit by Dennis, offer him a congratulatory hello and hand shake.

 

At last week's meeting Howell Public Schools Superintendent Ron Wilson shared the plan for reopening Parker High School.  Lots of good questions, good thoughts shared.

Mark Your Calendars!

March 19th - Bowl for Kids.   'Bowl Master' Dan Murdock is The Man in Charge.  Should be a fun time for all.you don't have to be a great bowler, or even a good bowler.  Let your friends and relatives know you're bowling to help local at-risk kids who need someone special in their lives.

March 18th - Tour de Livingston Committee Meeting, 8-9 a.m. at the Howell Chamber building.  We'd love to have more people join us on the planning committee for this year's TdL!  Lots to do and lots of people needed to pull it all together.

March 25th - Community Resource Fair, 4:30-8 p.m. (HHS cafeteria, in conjunction with the Livingston County Home Show.)  Tour de Livingston / Howell Rotary will have an informational booth.  Help us staff the booth or just stop in to show your support!

April 30th - Interact 5K Run.   Lots of help needed - contact Peter Bowen for more info.
