Today, December 11, 2006: John Rubio has a special guest planned for us today. If you come to the meeting, you will find out who is speaking. If you know John, the speaker will be good.
Next week we will be joined by the Howell High School Chorale for their annual Holiday Serenade.
Golf Cards! Have you signed out 5 to sell yet? They make great Christmas presents. Members report that they are well-received and easy to sell. If every club member sells just 5 this will be our biggest fundraiser ever. Good Luck!
Remember to bring in your can goods for the Gleaners Food Bank.

The next Steering Committee meeting is on January 25 at Cleary's Pub. The committee will not meet in December.
If you recall last Thursday, Rotary was supposed to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. When I arrived the stand and the kettle were inside Wal-Mart. Ever try lifting that stand? It is heavy. How it ended up inside the store is also a mystery. In any event, perhaps Rotary should try again to help the Army.
LACASA is having its Deck the Halls black-tie event on Tuesday. This should be a very festive evening for those attending.
According to the LCP&A there is another assault on Chemung Hills Country Club. Will an old fixture of the community survive? Will we have more houses and condominiums? It looks as if Faulkwood has reached a compromise to have both golf and houses as has Hawk Meadows. As our friend Harry Griffith likes to say, "One man's growth is another man's sprawl."

Here we are in the midst of Rotary Family Month.and most of us find ourselves up to our ears in activities not just for our personal families..but for our extended Rotary family. Clubs all over District 6380 are wrapping gifts for the those less fortunate.holding pizza parties for the physically challenged .bringing Santa Claus to those who might not get chance to sit on his lap and tell him what they want.working with Rotaract Clubs to host parties for nursing home patients.exchanging gifts with each other....the list is long, varied and imaginative.
Truly, this is the busiest time of the year for all of us regardless of our religious affiliations.or our holiday practices. This is a good time of the year also to suggest that if you are hard pressed to find a gift for a loved one.it is super nice to make a spouse or other loved one a Paul Harris Fellow! It is as easy as a phone call to Rotary International.or your club treasurer! And it is a gift that keeps on giving and giving ---The Rotary Foundation is truly a wonderful way to invest in service to the world.
