Today, August 6, 2007: our fellow Howell Rotarian Jeanne Clum will fill us in on this year's United Way Day of Caring. We are all encouraged to participate in this heart warming event. Last year our club had a record number of members participate. Is the Howell Rotary Club up to the challenge this year? You Bet!
Next Week President Elect Kim Dane will lead our quarterly committee break outs. It's a new Rotary year! The Board of Directors will meet immediately after the meeting.
Also next week, on Wednesday the Howell Club under the guidance of President Ron will host the first annual picnic with all local Rotary Clubs. We've already heard from the other clubs that their members are excited and planning on coming. Come on out to Howell City Park with family, friends, kids, grandkids and enjoy an evening of socializing. Bill Earl and his Parks Committee have been working hard to spruce up the Rotary pavilion. He will also like to get feedback from you on the proposed Howell Rotary Legacy Trees with seating area and brick pavers positioned near "the boulder". See you there!

Summer 2007
President Wilf Wilkinson has announced that a Rotary World Peace Summit will be held this April 25th to 27th , 2008 (Friday to Sunday).
The event will take place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, a border city with Detroit, Michigan, USA located in District 6400.
This three day event, will showcase all that we do as Rotarians to foster world peace through understanding. Highlights will include open-air opening ceremonies on the Detroit River over looking Canada and the United States.
Friday afternoon will feature our Peace and Conflict Resolution Scholars and a session on becoming a Rotary International Peace City. Saturday will include a panel discussion in the morning with "big name" speakers and the afternoon will feature Rotary stories. The evening will culminate with a Peace Concert that will be open to the public as well!
Sunday wraps up with a Faith Service and Closing ceremonies. There will be many exciting receptions and additional sessions - along with a World Food Pavilion.
The planning committee is please to announce that we are very fortunate to have two exceptional Past Directors as Event Co-Chairs - Mike McCullough and John Eberhard. They are providing exceptional leadership!!
Equally exciting news - Canada's UN Ambassador (2004-2006) Allan Rock has agreed to be the Honorary Chair. He is already opening many exciting doors in terms of the "world class" speakers for the event.
As you can see, it is truly going to be a legacy event for Rotary and for President Wilf Wilkinson!

A very exciting part of this site will be called the "Rotary Peace Challenge" and will encourage Rotarians and Clubs to submit entries about what they are doing to foster world peace and understanding. These submissions will be placed in an online logbook that will be accessible to all visitors.
We hope you will consider promoting this in your Districts. We have the opportunity to really make this a Public Relations dream for Rotary - not to mention what better way to attract new members!!
