Today, April 25, 2005: Club Assembly today.
Spring was just unpacking her luggage when Winter made a surprise visit.
Antiques Roadshow: According to Maria Stuart's article, the Antiques Roadshow is Sold Out! That is great news for Jeri and her crew. She may need extra help, so Rotarians should be ready to help. A word here for Jay Drick and his committee that suggested this idea. It has turned out to be a great fundraiser and a community service activity.

The Millage: Last week Sally Vaughn's speaker was Rick Terres, the financial administrator from the Howell Public School. Rick spoke about the necessity for passing the upcoming millage election, along with insightful commentary from Susan Grimes Munsell and Mike Hall (who is on the school board). The very next day, the GOP went on record in opposition to passing the millage. The issue seems to revolve around the health insurance costs and the teachers union's reluctance to let the public know much about the health policy. The surging costs of health insurance and medical expenses will continue to be a great concern for everyone, not just the schools.
Will Proposal A be revoked so that property taxes support the schools? That will be a question for citizens to debate.
Youth Exchange: Rotary is looking for three host families to take in a student for three months each. Nelson Edwards from the Sunrise Club is hoping that some people will accept an exchange student. Sam Vasiu did this three years ago and had a great experience. If you are interested in more information, see Peter Bowen.
