Tom Lawrence has invited Piet Lindhout to speak. Piet, as many already know, is the prinicipal of Lindhout and Associates Architects. He is also an accomplished sculptor/metal artist (his duck sculpture can be seen on the Mill Pond in Brighton). He is active in the Brighton Rotary program to build wheel chair ramps for citizens with special needs. These are the Rotary Raiders that built a bedroom addition for a household needing a first floor entry. Welcome, Piet!
Fundraising Committee meets at 11 a.m. today in the hospital conference room.
April 27: the Steering Committee meets at Cleary's at Noon. All Rotarians welcome.
May 2: Remember to vote for two new school board members and to vote for the Library expansion program.
May 20: The Rotary Antiques Appraisal will occur in the Community Room at the First National Bank from 10 - 3. If you have not worked or attended this event, you will enjoy it no end. There are always some surprises!
From Bonnie Miller (who has been absent lately). "Just wanted you to know that I still feel like a Rotarian even though I have not been there... After my knee surgery, my physical therapist suggested I go to the Howell pool for the arthritis aquatic exercise classes on Monday." She goes on to invite Rotary to the pool so that she can attend both.

I have just received the Rotary Youth Exchange packet for Altyhai Abdykadirova, a 16 year old female from Kyrgyzstan. Altyhai will be arriving in our District in August 2006.
I still have the packet for Max Huang a 16 year old male from Taiwan and Mrunmayee Gajare, a 16 year old female from India.
If your club is interested in hosting any of these students please contact me as soon as possible so that I can send the packet to you for the signatures necessary to obtain thier travel visas.

Hi Everyone, it is almost time for the District Conference on May 5th-7th.
Will each of your clubs make every effort to make a display that we can put up at the district conference of a project (or projects) that you have done this past year that we can showcase at the conference. Please let me know what it will be so I can let Bob know in advance so we have enough display space.
Also, every year they have a silent auction and they ask that each club donate something for the auction.
There are always hospitality rooms open that each Sector is the host of; we are combined with a couple of others. We are asked to contribute to that. Please let me know if your club would like to donate cash or snacks/cocktails to this event.

Speaking of displays, do you know where our Howell Rotary Club display is? It's gone missing since the Antiques Appraisal last year.
The following comes from a Catholic elementary school: All spelling and comments have NOT been edited:
1. "Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was Joan of Arc. Noah built and ark and the animals came in pears."
2. "Lots wife was a pillar of salt during the day but a ball of fire during the night."
3. "The Jews were a proud people and throughout history they had trouble with unsympathetic genitals."
4. "Sampson was a strongman who let himself be led astray by a Jesebel like Delilah."
5. "Sampson slayed the Philitines with the axe of the apostles."
