Today, April 16, 2007: Gretchen Voyle will speak on Spring Lawn and Garden Preparation today. Most of you know Gretchen from the Michigan State Extension and Conservation Department. Considering that there is a rumor that Spring was vetoed this year, perhaps Gretchen will have a difficult topic. Of course, there are a few optimistic Rotarians left, and they think that Spring is just around the corner. Right!
There is also a Fundraising Committee meeting today at 11.
April 21 (Saturday): The Interact Club is sponsoring a 5 K Walk and Run at the Howell High campus. This is an opportunity to support the kids at school with their activities, plus you could get some exercise! Skip lunch, walk instead.
April 23: Next week Susan Kelly will present the program, simply called "Trees."
April 25: The Fundraising Committee has developed a Wine and Cheese Tasting Event for this day at the Main Street Winery, just across the street from the Opera House. 5 - 8 pm. Bob Bezotte says that you need to bring your own designated driver. Considering the quality of the wine, these drivers will be difficult to find.
April 30: Sheriff Lt. Tom Cremonte will speak on "Jail Overcrowding and Road Patrol Issues." Tom may be on patrol after the Wine and Cheese Tasting, so beware.
President Jim does encourage everyone to buy or to give away the Golf Cards. For a mere $20, you can give yourself $1700 worth of golfing pleasures. That is a good deal even if you don't play golf.
More Golf. If you read the Paper this Sunday, you should have read about the fight to keep Chemung Hills away from the developers. According the Bill Bamber, the Oceola Township supervisor, no one is in favor of houses and condos in place of Chemung Hills. Look at Marion Oaks. It is so sad to see that lovely golf course literally going to seed.
