Parkinson´s disease is an age-related neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a loss of dopamine neurons in the central nervous system resulting in the well-known symptoms like shaking, rigidity and difficulty with walking. After Alzheimer disease, Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder with an approximate prevalence of 1% among people of 65-69 years of age.

Our guest speaker, Francesco Bez, holds a PhD in Neuroscience & Biomedicine from Lund University. His PhD studies were focused on the development of pre-clinical neuroprotective and neurorestorative therapies for the treatment of Parkinson´s disease. Francesco is now Senior Scientist at Redoxis CRO (Lund) where he is responsible for Parkinson’s models as well as working on inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.

Fellow Rotarians and guests of members are always warmly welcome at Malmö International Rotary meetings. And if you'd like to join us for dinner after the presentation, plan to arrive at the hotel by 17:45 so that we can help you order a discounted meal from the restaurant menu.
