Strengthening community: Voices of Västra Hamnen

After meeting one another through a local community project, our guest speakers Pernilla Weman and Joanna Le Pluart were looking for other ways to bring people together. They came up with the idea of a ‘Humans of New York’ style Instagram account in February 2021, and ‘Voices of Västra Hamnen’ was launched in May 2021 to coincide with Bo01’s 20 th anniversary. Swedish writer, Pernilla Weman, is a fun-loving culture vulture who, with the help of her Danish partner Ivan, keeps the local restaurants, arts and cultural scene alive. She teaches English and Swedish at S:t Petri school. English writer, Joanna Le Pluart, is curious about most things, including the environment, languages and urban anthropology. She and her Australian partner Craig have lived in Sweden for almost 30 years and both work as copywriters for international companies.

This will be a hybrid meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Malmö and may be attended in person or via Zoom.
