Note the meeting is 1 hour ahead of regular weekly meetings. This meeting starts at 10:30 am EDT (Detroit Time) and will be a joint meeting with sister club Bangalore Brigades, India

Water scarcity has become a severe problem around the world affecting more than 4 billion people.  This can mean that people do not get enough water for domestic use, and in many parts of the world including in India, available water is not safe for human consumption.  There are many reasons for this. There are many challenges such as lack of awareness, poor policies and weak enforcement.  It will take a concerted effort from different stakeholders such as the government departments, academia, private sector and civil society to tackle this problem.

Peter Thomson and Suneel Rajavaram from the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technologies (CAWST) will talk about the lack of water and how Rotary can help.

Peter Thomson works as Senior Director (Strategic Initiatives) with the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST).  Peter has over 25 years’ experience working in water, sanitation and hygiene in both the emergency aid and development sectors. He has a Diploma in Construction and a Master of Science in Community Water Supply from Cranfield University, UK.

Suneel Rajavaram is a Senior Global WASH Advisor with the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST). Suneel has 30 years of experience in irrigation, water, sanitation and hygiene. He possesses a master’s degree in water resources management from Gujarat University, India, and a Post Graduate Certificate in international project management from Humber College, Toronto.

This will be a joint virtual meeting with sister club Bangalore Brigades from India.
