The Rotary Club of Elizabeth’s much anticipated food-tasting event, The Taste of Elizabeth, was held virtually this year due to COVID concerns. The hour-long presentation highlighted many area restaurants and food purveyors, and also featured the works of The Rotary Club of Elizabeth. The broadcast took place on Thursday, November 19, starting at 7PM on the “Rotary Club of Elizabeth” Facebook page.
Explained Doug Harris, Chairman of this year’s Taste of Elizabeth, “We want to keep the spirit of this great event going, until COVID passes and we can again hold Taste of Elizabeth as the great food-tasting extravaganza that everyone knows.” Viewers of the digital event will be treated to interviews and scenes of their favorite restaurants and vendors, including: Bayway Liquors, Chevy’s Fresh Mex, Climax Brewing Company, Come Grow With Us Gardens, El Nacho’s Tequila Cantina, First Republic, Garden Restaurant (Union), Noches de Colombia, Pinho Bakery, Portugal Express, Roc’s Cafe, Tequila Bistro, Tommy’s Pizzeria, Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Tropicana Diner, Torna a Sorrento, TUMI, Urban Griddle and Valenca.

Noted Kenneth Richuso, Club President, “Viewers will also learn about the Rotary Club’s many projects that benefit the community, including financial support of local organizations, distribution of dictionaries to third grade students, the Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund, our work in Rotary International’s quest to eradicate polio, and more. The Taste of Elizabeth Elizabeth is not only a great event that brings people together, it’s our major fundraiser that allows our Club to do all these great things.” Since 1986, the Albert & Louise Davis Scholarship Fund of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth has given $644,000 to 426 Elizabeth students for their higher education.
