On September 3, 2020, Mr. Dave Hamilton, the current District Governor of Rotary 5040 district, paid an online visit to Dragon Club. Together with Mr. Frank Peabody (AG), Mr. Jim Lin and Mr. Dean Xie and Ms. Tanya.
During the zoom meeting, Mr. Hamilton shared some important information regarding 5040 district as well as Rotary International. He also invited Dragon club members to join the district conference which will be held next May in Prince Rupert and Terrace. Mr. James Wang, the past President of Dragon Club shared the PPE donation initiatives of Dragon Club. He mentioned that with the joint efforts with the Chinese Ambassador Society (CAS) of Burnaby Hospital Foundation, Dragon Club had raised hundreds of thousand of dollars cash and PPE to local hospitals, senior homes, and healthcare clinics.
President Catherine Liang also reported that Some of the Dragon Club members joined the Burnaby Lake Virtual Run on August 13. As an annual running event which aims to bring community together and give back to the local charity, Catherine hopes for more Rotary clubs to be involved in next year. President Elect, Leaf Alifu shared about the youth involvements in the community.
President Catherine also introduced the committee chairs and updated the installation event, Mr. Chris Dong updated the 1st online fundraising auction event for Polio and Covid-19. Every board member and chair of the club committees made introductions of themselves and showed their commitments for working towards a better community.
