This week we celebrated 250 years of independence, and we also celebrated the World Cup by going to Ghost Modern Mexican!
We had quite the group, Tom, Bob, Tim Rick, John, me and Assistant Governor Janet Haas and District Governor Nominee Renee Roberts as well as David D who was able to grace us with his presence before his doctor's appointment. As it turns out, Janet & Tom were Rotarians together in Livonia a while ago (we will not mention how long).
I saw a lot of gringo tacos (special of the day) being served as well as a few burritos. I had the taco hot dog!
Conversations were about the "Marty Helman Impact Tour Food Pantry Project". Marty Helman is a Rotary International Board of Directors member. Our District Leadership has chosen to provide food assistance to local food pantries as the project for our Michigan based clubs. Since we already have a food project going where we volunteer to serve Community Breakfast to the homeless, indigent and working poor neighbors in the Pontiac Community Our Club has offered that for our participation.
Of course, there was much conversation with Janet and Renee about how to involve young people in our community in our club and projects. We also discussed the sad closing of the Liberty Bar Downtown, which bring me to our next topic, next meeting location.
For 2026 Summer Eatings # 2 we will be a Lemon Grass Thai on Centerpoint Parkway across from the Marriott off of Opdyke at noon.
Please join us!
