Program/ CLUB ASSEMBLY:

President Jeremy alerted the Club that almost 20 people still owe dues for this year and payment is needed by the end of the month.  Invoices will be issued next week if you are not certain whether your dues are paid.  (Rotary International needs the remainder of our Club dues paid by the end of November, so..)

Junior Achievement (JA) chair Michael Bourke announced that our Club's involvement with JA at St. Patrick School for 6th-8th grade students will be held in April-May, 2011, for five or six weeks, approximately two hours each week.  Five teachers are needed to conduct a 45-minute class twice a week during the middle of the day.  A book and lesson plan is provided, and the opportunity to interact with the students and share your enthusiasm for business with them in priceless.  If you are interested in joining this endeavor, please contact Mike.

Cathy Riesterer and Dora Lezovich are responsible for the District Holiday party for area Rotary Foreign Exchange students to be held on December 4th & 5th at the Community Building.  The students will have a slumber party at the Building with lots of games, a hip-hop dance class, a banquet dinner where each student brings a dish to pass native to their home country, and a wrap-up breakfast cooked by Rotarians.  Additional help is needed to cook the breakfast at 8am, and clean-up at 9:30am.  Please contact Cathy at Cathy@crlaw.biz if you can join the fun!

Mark Cook  is responsible for the International Service Projects and will be taking the Vision trip to Peru on January 14-24, 2011, along with 19 others (including Ron Cleveland and Cindy Snyder)-additional donations of glasses are welcome.  If you are interested in attending a future trip contact Mark Cook to be placed on the email list.  Updated information about the Water project in Peru will be provided by Ron Cleveland after he travels up the mountain to see our contributions at work.

Nancy Johnson discussed the Literacy Project and how the new training class for the district has been populated and adult learners are eager to improve their English reading skills.  Community Connect , the one-day information fair, will be held at Cornerstone Church this year and volunteers will be needed to read to the students while their parents visit the exhibits.  More info will be shared as the date approaches.  The Head Start Program has enough readers right now, so our Rotary Reader project will become active in the Spring.

Jane McManus is responsible for the membership committee and reports that the Club currently has 68 members, with a goal of 72 members.  Average attendance is 66.8%, so please contact your friends that may not have attended recently and encourage them to join us for lunch!

Tom Zizka circulated the registration sheet for the Rotary Christmas Party.  Santa is coming and he needs to know by November 16th (next Tuesday!) the names of the children attending the party.  Contact Sharon Kartes at skartes@sbcglobal.net if you weren't able to list your information on the sign-up sheet.

Fundraising Concert on March 19, at the BCPA will feature Chelsea resident Jeff Daniels. Due to contract issues, please do not publicize this information until later in December.

President Jeremy closed the Club Assembly with the thought that the 2010-2011 theme is "Building Community- Building Bridges" and that he would like to see every member volunteer on at least one committee-that is how we have fun and stay involved!
