Jeannie McMillan thanked Julie Blankenship for assisting with Treasurer duties during Tax Season!

Mike Bourke just returned from a trip to Washington, D.C. with the Junior Achievement group from St. Patrick School.  Highlight of the trip for many was a visit to the White House.

Rotary Raiders Labor of Love projects at the Coy house were documented in a poster by Piet Lindhout.  Collect your copy at our next meeting.

Calling all new and valued members! The next Red Linenkugel New Member orientation will be held on May 18th at Leaf, Barley & Vine from 5:30-7:30pm.  Register to attend with Julie Blankenship.

Secretary Jane McManus announced that the Grant Certification program for our Club will be held this Thursday, 5/12, at 6:00-8:30pm at the Brighton Community Center.  $10 pays for pizza and refreshments.  The Future Visioning Brainstorming session will be held in June, date TBA.  Over 20 members have indicated interest in attending,  see Jane to add your name to the list.

The Scholarship Committee will meet at the Brighton High School Counseling Office on Monday, May 16, at 12:45pm to interview the top candidates. All Rotarians interested in joining this committee to select the 2011 scholarship recipients should contact Cathy Riesterer.

The Brighton District Library is hosting a “Stroll Around Town” event on Saturday, May 14th, beginning at 9am to benefit Early Childhood programs and activities. The walk will begin at the Library, proceed down Grand River to the Chamber of Commerce’s “Trinkets & Treasures” event on Main Street, past the Farmer’s Market, and back to the Library.  Nancy Johnson shared flyers and registration forms at today’s meeting, and more information can be found by emailing stroll@brightonlibrary.info or calling 810-299-6571, ext. 211.

Adrienne Knack is running in the 10K “Race for Your Memories” marathon this Saturday, May 15, at Kensington Metropark to support the Alzheimer’s Association.  If interested in donating to or sponsoring her efforts, please contact Adrienne.

The Livingston Sunrise Rotary is organizing for the Fourth of July Duck Race and seeks sponsors and/or prizes.  If you can help, please contact Chuck Thompson of the Sunrise Rotary Club.

Melanie Moses announced that the Brighton First United Methodist Church is raising funds for their youth mission trip by encouraging people to eat at the TGI Friday’s of Brighton TODAY.  Flyers were available at the side table.

Mark Sweatman announced that the “Evening with Jeff Daniels” fundraiser officially earned $22,695.89.  Congratulations to all who worked so hard to make this event a success!
