Program: CLUB ASSEMBLY

Michael Bourke shared information about the Junior Achievement program sponsored by our Club at St. Patrick School.  A full slate of teachers has been found and the eighth graders are very excited to learn about budgeting and finance.  Classes start in February.

.Jane McManus, as President of the Rotary Foundation, reminded folks that Scholarship Pledges for 2013 are due.  Thank you to Kim Leugers for her $1,000 donation to the Club--$500 for scholarships and $500 non-dedicated.  Don’t forget to keep using your loyalty card to Downtown Main Martini Bar—all purchases give 10-percent back to the scholarship fund.

Mark Cook is looking for four more people to travel with the Vision Mission on 6/6-13/14 to Peru.  Currently scheduled are 6 doctors, 6 opticians, and Piet Lindhout.

In order for the Club to host an exchange student for next year, we need host families.  Terry Gill spoke about the wonderful ties and lifetime friendships formed when your family hosts an exchange student. Contact Mark Cook by January 17th or tell Mark Marker if you know after that.

Tom Janego led the Club Assembly Discussion about fundraising ideas.  We divided into small groups and created a list of possible fundraisers to fulfill the Club’s budget of $24,000 for this year.  The top idea was Write-A-Check Obamacare style, and with 80 members, that would equal about $300 per person.  Other thoughts included “Dancing with the Starts,” a Jeff Daniels-type concert, “American’s Got Talent/American Idol,” casino night, comedy night, St. Patrick’s Day event, Business Olympics, Hockey Tournament, or an outdoor concert at Mt. Brighton.  More info to follow…

Progressive 50/50 Drawing:  No one won the jackpot.  Dennis Kalio, Frank Mancuso, and Bill Anderson were unable to locate the Ace of Spades.
