World Polio Day

When  Australian Rotarian Sir Clem Renouf launched the global project to end polio in 1979, more than 350,000 children died each year from this terrible disease. One can well imagine the desperately sad and devasting sense of loss felt by families, and the deep sadness when a life full of promise is taken prematurely. Many who did not die suffered dreadful paralysis. Today, polio is eradicated from all but two countries, an oustanding story that is yet unfinished.
