Cancer Patient Support Foundation provides hope and emergency financial assistance to help Vermont cancer patients pay for basic living needs like housing, home heat and electricity, groceries, out-of-pocket medical expenses and gas for transportation to treatment. They serve more than 500 patients every year throughout Vermont, partnering with medical providers and social workers who refer patients to us for support.
On Feb 13th, Sarah Wallace-Brodeur, Executive Director of the Cancer Patient Support Foundation spoke to our club about the financial toxicity that goes along with a diagnosis has devastating consequences to patients and their families. Paying for meds, fuel, food or utilities, every bit relieves the on-going financial stress, and allows cancer patients to focus on self and treatment. An additional innovative service is the Maggie Card that cancer patients in Vermont receive discounts on products and services from participating local businesses.
