Rotary Club members, aka Rotarians, have long been known as women and men of service. The Rotary Club motto, “Service Above Self,” conveys the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service. A myriad of service projects performed by Rotarians occur locally, nationally and internationally and are often selected in response to a need expressed by an individual or group within a community.
The Williston-Richmond Rotary Club maintains the Schmoker hiking trail and the Fontaine Canoe Access in Williston, as well as several benches in Williston and Richmond. In addition, club members build ramps and maintain Little Free Libraries and gardens within these communities.
These pictures show Rotarians Armand Fournier, Howard Novak and Lesley Murray along with Elena Wells, a Rotary family member, responding to a clean-up request from Rotarian Charlie Magill following a windstorm that felled trees in his yard. Trees were cut, split and stacked in response to this request.
