Meeting Notes 1/21/16

It has probably never been done before. Yes – a world first – and it was done at YOUR Rotary club. Those lucky enough to be in attendance sang two songs at the same time. You say “Wow, I can’t believe that!” to which I say: “I know, right?’ For historical purposes (or for future trivia contest fodder) the two songs were “When the Saints…” and “Head & Shoulders”. We slayed it…. just sayin’.

The guest speaker was Ken Robinson from TED. Okay, I know TED isn’t a place but it was a really cool talk on the subject: “Does Education Kill Creativity?” Very thought provoking.

Acting SAA Reg Melrose elicited the following:

  • Reg is going to miss the ski challenge AND the Pearls/Fur as he is off to SC & FL;

  • George and Chris for TED talk;

  • Andy paid a media fine for being in the Observer as a mentor;

  • Dave E. returned from a cruise;

  • Andrew’s mentee recently moved to MA; co-worker is leaving work (sad);

  • Charile is out next week in order to train for the Rotary Ski Challenge in Montana;

  • Howard will be home alone for a while - enjoying lots of skiing – Jessica is rocking the business world – lots of chain saw work in front of him (drool, drool);

  • Greg for TED – his CVU son is auditioning for music conservatories;

  • Deb for TED – Ellis in in NZ;

  • Sally had many trees fall in her yard including a 50 footer (Howard? Howard?) – the trees were removed wicked fast and it was wicked cool;

  • Barb is back from FL – she is looking forward to the new play coming to Vermont Stage @ the Flynn Space called Mothers & Sons.
