On March 14 we held our weekly breakfast meeting in the beautiful community room at the Richmond Free Library. Hosting us was Youth Director Wendy de Forest, who shared the history of the library and the building, once a church and then part of a school, that it has inhabited since 1991. She explained how the library's collections have evolved over time as various technologies have waxed and waned -- and recently as the restrictions of the COVID pandemic prompted the adoption of new ways to engage and support the community. Wendy shared specific children's resources that our club's recent monetary donation, arranged by Barb LeWinter, have helped fund. These include VOX books with built-in audio to accompany the printed picture book pages. We also learned about Play Away books, STEAM kits, Launch Pads, and Storytime Bags -- all wonderful resources that augment the collection of books featured in two youth-focused rooms on the second floor of the library.
