Members of the Williston community gathered started off the Memorial Day holiday in a meaningful remembrance of those who gave all in service to our country. Our 4th annual Memorial Day Observance was organized by Lesley Murray with support from a large number of club members, town officials and residents.
Speakers included retired pastor Gary Lewis, Town Manager Erik Wells, and Rotarian Matthew Casey, who encouraged those present to not only engage in quiet reflection of those who sacrificed, but also to be inspired to action. “We are called to not only honor the dead, but to live lives that honor their sacrifice by upholding the values they served to defend: liberty, dignity, justice and service.”
John Jacobs emceed and provided music and sound. Several Rotarians read the names of area deceased veterans and the event concluded with "Taps" performed by Luke Buehler.
