Community Initiatives
Rotary Burlington Lakeshore is involved in a number of initiatives supporting local community. Some of our latest initiatives are:
1. Food4Kids provides packs of healthy food for elementary students from at-risk, low-income or disadvantaged homes with limited or no food during weekend periods. Packages of healthy foods are prepared by volunteers and delivered to schools each Friday to ensure children have nourishment over the weekend.  We are currently supporting 299 children in Halton and we would like to close the gap on feeding the 350 children that have been identified as needing our program, that is only 51 more kids to feed.
2. Help us celebrate the first ever town home complex in Halton by sponsoring a town home for a family. This tangible and public demonstration of support empowers permanent change by eliminating the cycle of poverty one home at a time. It’s with organizations like you that we can affect positive change. This harmonizes with your values and ours for the need of affordable housing.
3. Your donation of $1,250 will send 2 grade 6 classes (50 students) from Burlington, identified by the Halton Public and Catholic boards as “at Risk” schools to the Museum’s Characteristics of Flight course. These are schools whose students cannot afford to pay for parent funded school trips and would otherwise not enjoy the same quality extra-curricular field trips as their peers.
