The Camp Fire killed between one and three million trees. Helping landowners restore their vaporized woodlands is the job of the Butte County Resource Conservation District (BCRCD).  But we shouldn't replace the too-dense, unhealthy forest of the past.  As fires get more frequent and the climate gets warmer, how should we plant Butte County's "next forest" for fire- and climate-resilience?

Wolfy Rougle, Forest Health Watershed Coordinator at the BCRCD, will share how her organization is tackling these questions and helping Butte County forest landowners get the right trees back on the landscape in the right places. Wolfy is a botanist, GIS person, grant writer and good fire advocate who holds a Master's in Public Administration from Chico State and a B.S. in International Agricultural Development from UC Davis.  She has worked at the RCD for two years.
