Lobster Night at Grant Camp

Randolph Rotary's Annual Lobster Night was a great success..
Sixteen Rotarians with 26 guests came to Lobster
Nite and celebrated the start of summer Friday evening. This event has been an
annual feature for somewhere over 15 years. It's an event to bring our Rotary
families together, to thank those families for supporting their Rotarians, and
to enjoy the company of our friends in our wonderful retreat, Grant Camp. Thanks

for Lobster Nite
which is a choice of lobsters or huge Delmonico steaks. Arny notes that
he's able to obtain the finest of Maine lobsters. Our supplier buys from many
sources from Nova Scotia to Massachusetts. But, this year there was a shortage
due to a poor catch over the last 6 months. Each lobster cost us $15; $25 is
what you would have paid for them at a supermarket. The best part of Lobster
Nite food is the dishes which the members contribute each year. There was an
excellent variety and good flavors our friends present us with.
Arny and Cil and their team are always very
thankful that they get a helping hand to set up and clean up for this event. It
gets easier every year to put Lobster Nite on. Phil Mollitor and Rosie Denike
have been our biggest help setting up over the years, but this year both were
unable to join us. Jack Cowdrey, Bob Wright, and Brent Kay took over for them.
It is heartwarming to have them and the many Rotary spouses pitch in without
hesitating a minute.
We have scheduled another family event for August
3rd, another Friday evening. We call it Shrimp Nite and this year we will be
making a Low Country shrimp boil - - lots of shrimp with potatoes, corn, mild
sausage and possibly some other ingredients. We plan on making ice cream
sundaes for dessert. American shrimp have made a comeback and are now available
in the markets and that's what we plan on having. We hope you will keep the
date reserved and plan to come. The price will be the same as our regular
meeting price, only $10.50 per person. Like Lobster Nite and Rib Nite, this will
be our meeting for the week.
So, as we slide into summer and another Rotary
year, we would like to thank all of you for being our fellow Rotarians and
sharing your company with us.
