Grant Camp Gets Flood Damage
Posted by Arnold Spahn
While Central Vermont was feeling the effects of heavy rain, the stream running through Grant Camp was tearing apart its banks.
Several people came to Grant Camp once the rain had slowed down to help rescue Rosie's tool shed. The rushing stream had undermined the shed and it was in danger of being washed downstream. Shades of the flood of '97! In that flood, we lost our cabin, which went downstream to jam under the temporary bridge, diverting the river and ruining Hebard Hill Road.
We will need to rebuild the stream bank and apply rip-rap. Jack Cowdrey has estimated the work at about $6,000. He has talked to the Proper Authorities and gotten a go-ahead for the work. The question is, how will we pay for it? Any donations at this time will be very welcome.
