Rod as usual entertained us with his antics. Fines for checking out ladies at Lakeside and not duties (Ron L). A lovely portrait of Bernie Hanna, Rick Howarth and Bill Clarkson at Jamie's BBQ painted by Rod- a terrific talent- looked awfully like the 3 Stooges.......a shout out to the ladies of Lakeside who managed to appear cool, calm and collected after a harried morning of running around. We call that time management gentlemen.
Happy $$$'s.
David Roscoe for Vanessa winning the National Volleyball Championships in London. Well done Vanessa!
Peter Thoem – going to Khalistan for 2 weeks to study bird migration- livin' the dream Peter!
Kathy Thomas with a sad dollar and a thank you for the support she has received from the club on the passing of her father. I second that emotion.
Barb Keck for surviving a hungry bear looking for ribs on her kitchen counter up north. Beary scary.
ADG John Zinkie introduced DG Bill Proctor.
He has had an illustrious career and has been a member of the Kitchener Club since 2000. He has been the District Youth Exchange Co Chair as will as taking on the training portfolio in 2011. He is a multiple Paul Harris recipient as well as many other duties.
He spoke to us about the fundamental fault in the world to day which in his opinion is the lack of Rotarians. He ran through many of the wonderful achievements of the Rotary Foundation including an initial grant in 1930 to what is now the Easter Seals. He spoke of the 100th anniversary this year. More to come on the $100.00 for 100 years program.
Being good is one thing, doing good is everything. Good words to live by.
Gerry thanked Bill for his overview of the Foundation and the meeting was adjourned.
