A Successful 2025 Lakeside A La Carte Event Drives Support for Local Hunger Relief
Food for Life Gets $20,000 from Rotary Club of Burlington Central’s Lakeside A La Carte to Help Fight Food Insecurity Burlington, Ontario — 2025
The Rotary Club of Burlington Central (RCBC) is proud to announce a generous donation of $20,000 to local food charity Food for Life, raised through the 26th annual Lakeside A La Carte event. This marks the second year that Food for Life has been the lead charity for their signature event. This donation will provide vital support to allow FFL to rescue over $140,000 dollars worth of fresh, healthy food to individuals and families across the community.
This year’s impact was further strengthened by the contribution of rescued food from several event vendors, reinforcing a shared commitment to reducing food waste and supporting neighbours in need.
“We are so grateful to the Rotary Club of Burlington Central for selecting Food for Life as the lead beneficiary for the past two years,” said Meaghan Richardson, Director of Development at Food for Life. “The need for food support remains high, and this donation ensures we can continue to provide access to fresh, nourishing food to neighbours who rely on us each week.”
Lakeside A La Carte, presented annually by RCBC, brings together local restaurants, beverage partners, businesses, volunteers, and community members to raise funds and awareness for local causes. This year’s event, held on August 10th at Spencer Smith Park, was once again a deliciously spectacular success.
“Everyone connected to our event is proud to support Food for Life’s essential services,” said Susan Jasper, President of RCBC. Their dedication to fostering a volunteer community that feeds people and promotes food rescue speaks directly to Rotary International’s mission of “Service Above Self”.”
Thanks to this support, Food for Life is able to keep pace with the rising need for food in our community, rescuing and distributing fresh, healthy food through over 90 locations and reaching more than 4,500 households each week across Halton and Hamilton.
