We are pleased to announce the Rotary Club of
The Grand Travel Prizes includes trips to Florida, British Columbia, Las Vegas, Chicago and Ireand. Three golf membership packages are also available as prizes. Golf outings at several GTA private and public courses including outings with well known golf writers Lorne Rubenstein and Robert Thompson round out the golf play packages. Finally, various golf merchandise magazine subscriptions are available in the prize pool.
The prizes will be drawn monthly beginning early October with the Grand Travel Prizes amongst several others on March 6, 2012. Tickets are only $20 with a maximum of 5,000 sold.
Proceeds from the lottery will go to charities supported by the two Rotary clubs. Now more than ever, charities are in need of funding as economic downturns reduce the funding by individuals, corporations and government. In addition to assisting larger charitable organizations, Rotary often acts as a vehicle for smaller charities which do not have the capacity to raise funds on their own due to limited resources.
Rotary is an organization encompassing more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace under the motto Service Above Self. Examples of where proceeds from fundraising go include: food banks, shelters, hospitals, scholarships, clean water projects in developing nations, disaster relief and our largest international project, the eradication of Polio worldwide.
Lottery co-chairs Ron Lambert of the Rotary Club of Burlington Central and Colin Gray of the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore are excited about the new fundraiser and where the proceeds will be put to use. They urge you not only to participate in the lottery but, to look at Rotary or any one of the many service organizations and charitable organizations that are always looking for good people. There is no more rewarding activity than volunteerism and seeing how you as an individual can make a difference in the world.
