Bulletin July 28th, 2016

A rainy morning but to be expected- I spent 45 minutes watering both my and my neighbour's gardens last night.....................
Bryce took the meeting muttering something to the effect of Mike being overwhelmed already..........!
Bruce, Bob, Renee and Rod carried the duties with aplomb. O' Canada sounds much better from the back!
Guest included Joe Watson- guest of Rod, Paul Sparrow-our guest speaker, and Jason Suchecki, guest of Leslie Allison.

Announcements:
Bryce thanked the Golf committee for a job well done. Lots of positive comments from the participants - now if we could only dial the temperature down a notch for next year!

If you haven't visited the JBH mock up rooms – well worth the visit. They are located on Harvester Rd. and specifics are on the JBH Foundation website.

McMaster is planning a Memorial for Les Miller in the form a lovely green space/outdoor learning area to be named Millers Grove. The dedication ceremony will be August the 11th at noon behind the football field complex. If you would like to attend please e-mail Bryce and he will provide the full details.

The Lakeside group mentioned ticket sales - get'em while they're hot! Target is 600 with a target of 300 by midnight tonight.
Silent Auction items are needed...Please bring your donations to the meeting next week or contact Catherine or Owen to confirm your donation. We made 17K last year- BIG shoes to fill.

Fashion Week may have been cancelled in TO but it was certainly alive and kicking in Burlington this morning! Rod's comments on the golf attire last week were hilarious. (Great choice for SAA Mr. President!)

Rod is hoping the Bernie doesn't claim the big screen TV because he'll have to unplug it, remove it from his wall and plug the holes........Nice guy though- he even fined his rent-a-friend, Joe Watson. Classy.

John Allinotte- nominated as Mr. GQ and the standard bearer for men's attire.

Nobody according to Rod met the standard including Bill Clarkson's bright yellow, Andrew's Crocodile Dundee attire, Dave Beckett' 5 wardrobe changes, Jamie's unusually boring attire....

Lots of laughs and travel stories including polygamy (Owen's two weddings) 100 mile treks (Kathy up to the top of Gibraltar with no wine bar at the midway point-WHAT????), 1000 Leagues Under the Sea (CB's adventures with a dinghy in the North Channel), Mae's whirlwind tour of Canada and Elliot with the trip of a lifetime- Marriage! Congratulations Elliott- lots of wonderful examples of long marriages in this club to learn from and few not so much!  The highlight however – the indomitable spirit of our own Deanne who is on a journey that none of us want to take. Her spirit is unbelievable and an inspiration to us all. Who else could be thrilled that her hair is growing back albeit in the wrong place!!!! Wonderful to see you Deanne!
