United States of America

Many North Country residents have received flyers toting the value of community solar farms.  And, most Americans aren’t able to put solar panels on their residences or businesses for a variety of reasons. Community solar fixes this problem through the installation of a locally situated and shared solar farm that is connected to the electricity grid. Residential and commercial customers can subscribe to a solar farm, meaning they agree to purchase electricity credits generated by the array.

For more than three generations, the Hamilton family has been serving communities in the North Country. This tradition of service has taken various forms over the years and continues today with the future development of a local, community-based solar farm. While the HamilSun Community Solar Farm, which will be located in Peru, is still in development, the solar farm will utilize lands not suitable for agriculture and will bring the benefits of renewable energy while providing a financial benefit to local families and businesses in our community.

Mark Hamilton along with Jim Kurtz and Mike Roach (RER Energy/Sunvestments) will discuss with the club this Wednesday the value of community solar farms.
