PDG Merle welcomes DGE Barry to the best Rotary club in District 6380.
None other than DGE Barry Fraser.  Sue Pauling drew his winning number.  Barry was also the last one to purchase a ticket.
Rotarian Ed Duering from the Army is in red.  Cpt. Andrew of the Army is in the middle (black sweater).  The other two gentlemen are long time derby workers that were happy with their new derby track.  The Warren Rotary club purchased it for them over a two year period.  Following are some of the derby cars/awards and track photos from their May 23th-- 7th annual children's pinewood race.  Lots of excitement, food, fun, singing and of course racing for about 75-100 children, parents and guests.  Outstanding event-well done, well organized.
Derby cars come in all shapes, sizes , designs and color.  Some go fast and some not so fast!
You have to be tall to take on this job and be successful.  Good job Edward!
Derby cars run down a metal track four times -- once on  each lane
All cars are traveling downhill towards the final recording gate (next photo).  The winning cars travel about 225-235 MPH over a 42 foot track.
the fasting car thru one of these  four timing devices. They record the race 1-2-3-4 on the read outs.
Great jobs kids.  Next year the children have to build a new derby car.  They can not rerun this year's cars.
The prize of the night.  Wonder who won this master piece?
