Club membership agreed to support two significant needs in our community at last week's meeting.

Two proposals were put forward by President Ed Boonstra and approved by members.

1. Becoming a sponsor for the main concert series of the Brampton Symphony Orchestra's 2005 season. The sponsorship amount is $40,000. This sponsorship will allow them to strengthen their financial position so they can embark on a membership drive and start building a youth orchestra.
In reply to a question of Warren Rasberry President Ed said that we provide lots of funding for charitable causes and have historically not supported a lot of cultural organizations.
This proposal was approved by the membership.

2. To provide funding of $250,000 for the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. This funding will be made available in $ 50,000 annual amounts and will depend on the ability of the club to pay. In his explanation, President Ed said that this Institute is good for business and students in Brampton. The donation will be acknowledged with a plaque in the lobby.

This proposal was approved by the membership.
