Three Paul Harris awards and two certificates of appreciation were presented at our club's spring
Paul Harris night, last Monday, the eve of the 99th anniversary of Rotary.
Grace Sanderson, Bill Heffernan and Past President Jerome Dawson received Paul Harris awards and Bert Post and Steve Wilson received certificates of appreciation. (see story below)

District Governor Mike Knell and his wife Marie attended and received a $10,000 cheque for The Rotary Foundation from President Wendell.
Grace Sanderson is the fourth member of her family to receive a Paul Harris award. As matriarch of the Sanderson clan, she and her husband Lloyd, inspired their 13 children to get imnvolved in community service. The family has left a legacy of service in Lions and Rotary
In 1971 Grace joined Lionettes and has 32 years of perfect attendance. Her husband Lloyd, now deceased, was a Paul Harris awardee, a Melvin Jones fellow and a life member of Lions Club of Canada. He also served as district governor of Lions.
The Sanderson family operated Sanderson Cartage and later Sanderson Recycling until 1995 when they sold the business.
Grace has 13 children, 35 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
Grace Sanderson's involvement in community has been truly amazing.
Bill Heffernan has been an inspiration and motivator for young people throughout his career as a teacher and guidance counsellor.
Moreover, Bill has been a significant positive link through St. Augustine School for his work promoting Rotary through Interact and Rotary Exchange.
Former Youth Exchange student David Simmonds spoke eloquently on Bill's ability to provide leadership for young people in the school. David said Bill not only encourages young people to get involved in the world he practices what he preaches.
Lorne Hallcroft, of St. Augustine, said Bill was always good with kids. He encouraged young people to get involved out of concern for community and world issues. "You can make a difference and you do," he said.
Jerome Dawson has served our club well as past president, secretary, treasurer and a member of numerous committees, including most recently chair of the Rotary Foundation committee.
Norm Bindon talked about Jerome's dedication to Rotary, his commitment - a model for "service above self."
Jerome, clearly surprised by the award, said he got involved because of Rotary's commitment to Easter Seals, to children in need.
He thanked his wife Susan and children for supporting him in his Rotary work.
