DG Bob brings a message

At our meeting last week we welcomed the current District 7080 Governor Bob Palmateer and his wife Sherrin.
Before he started his speech, he introduced Sherrin and she asked us to support her fundraising initiative by buying tickets for a draw. Prize is a hand-crafted Quilt made by her.
Bob Palmateer resides in Bolton and has been practising law since 1976 in the area of real estate, small business, wills and estates. Both Bob and Sherrin are very much involved in their community, and both are Paul Harris fellows.
In his address to the club Bob highlighted the history of Rotary, and how it grew and crossed the border into Canada. He noted that his own club was sponsored by ours in 1950. He also noted that many Canadians had a hand in growing Rotary internationally.
He honoured our longest serving member in the club Bob MacIntyre as well as all our recently inducted members.
Membership growth is one of his goals for the year and he suggested that everybody gets their "ask" in gear and approaches potential candidates for membership.
When he mentioned the goals of Rotary Foundation he informed us that 2 weeks ago it was announced that there had been no new cases of polio found in Nigeria for some time.
He further encouraged us to attend the District Conference this month in Guelph and the International Conference in Montreal next year.
