Happy bucks: PDG Norm Binden was happy with his performance, along with Badar Shamin at a recording of the Star Spangled Banner and O Canada, which will be played at the game on July 26th, they will be on the field, lipsinking the words as we hear the recording of their voices. The mike will be dead!
Frances Vancer was happy that her Dad survived a heart attack and received a major surgery of 7 stints in his arteries. The doctor told him that the reason he survived was that he was so fit. At 84 yrs old, he ice skates in the winter and in line skates in the summer, plus cycling and has a two wheel scooter.
She also had a tremendous trip following the national riders for the Sears National ride for Kids cancer from Toronto to Halifax.
The three teams of riders rode to 16 oncology departments across Canada from Vancouver to Halifax, Carl Vancer and Terry Hoddinot rode tandem. Terry was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eyes.) when he was 3 and is totally blind, his son had the same disease, and treated with chemotherapy when he was born lost one eye. His daughter was diagnosed in the wound with the same disease and they were able to treat her with the first Utero laser treatment in the wound, which saved her from the dreadful disease, she was born with her eye sight intact. This treatment was the first in Canada. Terry has been very instrumental in funding raising for the disease. Both Carl and Terry raised $50,000 alone. The three teams raised over $1,5 million dollars for the cause.
