The RCB was thrilled to sponsor five incredible youth for Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA), an annual retreat which this year was held May 1st to 4th, 2025. The retreat helps youth to develop leadership skills and knowledge of the community. We look forward to their presentation at the Club when they will share their experiences.

 

On Sunday May 4th, 2025, members of the Club hiked in support of Bethel Hospice's annual fundraiser hike. We hiked in memory of Steven Rhodes and Willard Burton, two beloved former Club members. 

 

 

On May 5th, 2025, the Rotary Club of Brampton welcomed Sarah Kinlin a professional speaker, coach and educator, who joined us virtually. Sarah discussed Youth Mental Health and shared her approach of a dual spectrum of mental health. She recommended people identify and use stress reduction and coping strategies while engaging in self care. Sarah presented some examples and practical ways to support youth. Her presentation was very timely and informative.
 

 

On Saturday May 10th, thirteen members of the Club attended the Club Leadership Learning/District Assembly held at the University of Guelph. It was wonderful to see strong attendance from the Rotary Club of Brampton. We have lots of incredible members who are developing their leadership skills through their community work. The Rotaract Club of Algoma University Student Union was also present. It was a great event!

 

 

On May 12th, VP Suzanne and Amrit Kaur spoke about their experiences at Honouring Indigenous Peoples (HIP) Youth to Youth Exchange April 27 to May 3, 2025 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Twenty-five Indigenous youth and twenty-five non-Indigenous youth from across Canada attended and our Club sponsored Amrit. Suzanne attended as a Helper.

 

Amrit shared the friendships and sense of community that the youth developed during this Exchange. Her presentation was very inspiring.  Suzanne spoke about Land-based Learning, Two-Eyed Seeing and the Orange Shirt Society. 

 

 

 

 

 

From May 23 to 25th, the Club held the annual Rotary Rib'N'Roll event. Rib'N'Roll is our very popular fundraiser - a music and rib festival over three days in Gage Park that brings out the community for food, fun and entertainment. Thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who helped make this event possible. It is the 21st year for Rib'N'Roll and we are thrilled with the vibe and energy from the community every year. It is very rewarding to see the smiles on kids' faces.

On Monday May 26th, we welcomed the five RYLA graduates to the Club. Esha Dhillon, Samia Kever, Janvi Sajeev, Zachariah and Molly Gomes did a wonderful job sharing their stories and experiences. They wowed us with their presentations. We are proud to sponsor such an incredible group of youth and look forward to hearing from each of them as they pursue their next endeavours.
