Quitterie Lefebvre Du Prey
About a year ago, Rotary received an application from France asking us to host a young lady named Quitterie who was interested in drawing, modern dance and music.
She arrived in Canada August 24, 2018. She was surprised to see all the people who came to welcome her at the airport.
Quitterie’s exchange is nearing an end and she has matured and became quite independent. She has had many different living experiences with her host families and making special friendships with other exchange students during her stay.
Quitterie talked about the differences in culture; in France a kiss on both cheeks, in Canada lots of hugs. She was surprised that Canada use bagged milk and the biggest surprise of all is the diversity of people we have in Canada. She had a very good life here, surrounded by people who took care of her. Quitterie had some amazing experiences especially around the holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Last Christmas is the best Christmas she has ever had, with good food, lots of love and happiness. There are some things she never thought she would ever enjoy, like horror movies, now she knows how to enjoy them.
Quitterie spent her 18th birthday in Niagara Falls, had an amazing birthday even though her parents weren’t there; such a beautiful place which people in France dream to see.
Quitterie had the opportunity to organize a workshop for kids which made her see the world with a new high. She can’t wait to reach the age when she can become a true Rotarian.
Thanks to Rotary for sponsoring her and thanks to all the amazing host parents for taking care of her. She has grown in her confidence and such an ambassador for France.
