Youth Exchange requires help

The main presentation of the April 30 meeting was from John Lomax concerning the Youth Exchange program. John explained the program to the meeting, and Rotarians Warren and John Digby as two of the mainstays of hosting families also outlined the minor pitfalls (teenagers are messy!! - what a surprise - and the boys tend to eat a lot) and great rewards of hosting.
John continued outlining how the program worked, and the main issues facing our club with respect to the program - the essence of which is that it is becoming very difficult to recruit host families.
He asked members to consider helping with the program in any number of ways, including hosting. He and the committee are also considering various changes to make things more flexible and easier for members to help. At the end of the day, the club will probably have to reduce the number of Exchange students we support to come into line with the availability of hosts and other assistance from members.
