Our Brampton YMCA is about building strong kids and families and about building strong communities, General Manager Janet Johnson told members on Monday.
"Our Y has programs for youth, adults, families, seniors and teens," Janet told the club. The Y provides a resource centre to help people search and develop the skills needed to find employment.

Through its Community Fund, the YMCA provides counselling and support for young people facing numerous issues including gambling and substance abuse. They also provide a variety of summer camp programs for kids.

"In 2003 we had 343 kids at camp, 12,000 people utilizing our fitness and recreation centre and 2,300 people got some financial assistance."

The YMCA's 200 volunteers provided 6,700 hours of service.

"We believe no one should ever be denied access."
