Words of appreciation
Brad Goodison, rather than doing Sergeant at arms decided to let Rotarians talk about positive things they had experienced, such as: he noted the appreciation the club showed during Dale O'Hara's talk the previous week which went over the allotted time.
President Steve noted Barry Thorvardson's efforts in producing the slide show from the previous Saturday's Oktoberfest dance ; Peter Ward remembered late Rotarion Al Miller; John Mullen appreciated Peter's daughter, Natasha, bartending at the dance; Dittie described Gene McNamara as representing the epitome of Rotary; Liane Fernandes expressed the sense of family that she experiences at Rotary meetings; Dorean appreciates the expressions of concern she received from Rotarians during her recent health problems; Wendell expressed his appreciation of Dittie; Ralph Edwards' wife and guests were unfamiliar with Rotary, but expressed their appreciation of the hot gray-haired man at the dance -- Wendell ? (was he sweating? )
John Suds expressed appreciation for nominating 18 years ago a fellow to Rotary who has now made it to Sergeant at arms. Don Weaver appreciated not being fined . Al Heaney expressed appreciation for the new civic hospital and for all the support our club has given to the hospital over the years. Gerry Atkinson, a first-year director of membership, expressed appreciation for the three wonderful chairs of committees reporting to her. Sheila, as past president, expressed appreciation for Bob McIntyre who has undertaken the program for Remembrance Day, and for John Sanderson who is always there to help with the Santa Claus parade.
Bob Cranch expressed appreciation and thanks for the bingo hall which as at the end of September reported a $17,000 profit, as opposed to a substantial loss for the same period last year. He also appreciated dancing with Gene at the Saturday night dance.
