John Sanderson introduced speaker Matthew Anderson, President and CEO of
William Osler Health System. Matthew joined the hospital April 2010,
he has two small children. William Osler has three hospital sites,
Etobicoke, Brampton Civic and Peel Memorial. Brampton has the busiest
ER room, one of the busiest in all Ontario.
Good news, people are living longer and have healthier lives. The growth rate of health care expenditure is decreasing. Osler is using a system approach, managing health from end to end. Cardiology, cancer, women and children, addictions, seniors present exciting opportunities to change the way we are providing care. The future of Brampton Civic Hospital is to open 94 beds over the next three years (2012-2013), an increase from 514 to 608 beds.
Peel Memorial
Where do we need to go with Peel Memorial?
. Focus on health and wellness
. Provide more options when urgent health situations arise
. Involve patients
. A healthy environment
. Connecting patients with right care
. Moving beyond the traditional image of a hospital
We are working closely with our community partners to open the doors of Phase 1 of Peel Memorial in 2015. Peel Memorial will be more than a hospital. It will be an urgent care centre, in and out in 30 minutes; Brampton Civic Hospital out in 4 hours.
