Virtual reality

Six Rotarians experienced the ultimate in virtual reality while sitting in the Captain's seat of an Air Canada A320 flight simulator.
Simulators for all the types of aircraft flown by Air Canada are used to train pilots when they are initially assigned to an aircraft. Every Air Canada pilot also returns to the simulator four times per year, for training and testing, to ensure that their skills remain at a very high standard.
Our novice aviators, accompanied by Capt. Norm Bindon, practiced takeoffs and landings in conditions ranging from sunny skies to a nighttime winter blizzard.
The would be captains were Daisy Oliver, Hugh Jacobs, Ian Douglass, President Jerome Dawson, Past President John Lomax and our Exchange Student Gertrud Renner.
Despite positive comments by Capt. Norm on all the participants, at this time only Gertrude is being encouraged to pursue an aviation career.
