District Governor Doug Vincent spoke to us about Rotary's 5 STAR program. Success, Teamwork, Achieves, Results.

During his Annual Visit to our Club DG Doug spoke to us of setting goals and striving and reach them. The District  7080 5 Stars of this and future years are are: Membership, Leadership, Communications, Youth, and International Service. We learned of some District Special Projects including a Wheel Chair project which is delivering over $200,000 worth of wheel chairs, Shoes Boxes to Mexico for Christmas, and a Literacy project in Argentina.


The following biography shows clearly why DG Doug was selected to lead our District.

Doug is a Charter Member and Past President of the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club, with 24 years perfect attendance. In addition to working in a third-generation, family farm equipment business, he operates a marketing and collectible firm called Tiny Toys. Through his consulting business, Creative Concepts Inc., he works with entrepreneurs, focusing on succession planning and family business relations.

 

Locally, Doug serves as a Church Trustee, is a past Vice-Chair of the Ontario Police Board Assoc Z4 and has been recognized as a top marketing expert by the Canadian Agricultural Marketing Association. He is an honorary Colonel in the Philippine National Police, recognizing his role in promoting global understanding, brotherhood and world peace.

 

His introduction to Rotary came through a GSE to Australia in 1977. He was a GSE Team Leader to the Philippines in 1995 and since then has been coordinating Rotary humanitarian aid in many countries. In addition to multiple Philippine visits, Doug has travelled the globe on Rotary activities, to: Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Hong Kong, Korea, South America, China, Samoa and Mexico. This year, he is planning travel and hands-on international service opportunities for Rotarians.

 

Doug has been very involved in most Rotary Foundation programs. He is a Rotary Foundation Benefactor, Major Donor, multiple Paul Harris Fellow and has received various Appreciation Awards for his work, including an R.I. President's Citation, District Service Award, Four Avenues of Service Citation and Outstanding Leadership Award.

 

As past International Chairman of ROTI (Rotarians on the Internet) Doug's contribution to Rotary is well known. Through his development of the ROTI Institute, sharing knowledge and experience in over 160 countries, he has become well known as a mentor and prolific author of Rotary information. As Doug travels the world, he is often referred to as Rotary's 'Roving Ambassador'.

 

He has served on the R.I. Technology Task Force, R.I. Fellowships Committee and R.I Secretariat Focus Group. His service continues this year, as a Rotary International officer and District Governor.
