On November 18th the Peel Regional Police made an outstanding contribution to the knowledge of our two exchange students.  Along with our President, Carole Berry, they were given an extensive tour of police headquarters, and introduced to a number of officers in various areas of police service.

After an official greeting by Deputy Chief Chris McCord, Tessa Fitzpatrick (Australia) and Piero Magnasco (Chile) were involved with the criminal lab services (analysis of chemicals, etc.), the lifeblood of the police force  - the telephone service which is constantly busy with phone calls and dispatch; and also the major Emergency Response Services, which includes the  tactical response unit, major investigations, canine and marine units.

Although the facilities are not quite like the TV crime shows, the technology, resources, and the police staff certainly come very close to the images we see on the screen.  The lab is very sophisticated; the equipment is good; and the police staff demonstrated their professionalism and caring.  It is obvious that the officers value their careers in policing.

We are proud of our local service – and this opportunity showed that they really care too.  Many thanks to Deputy Chief McCord, Cst. Tom Ruttan  and all the officers who contributed to this worthwhile tour.
