Rachel Sheils, campaign co-ordinator for the Salvation Army challenged our club to helps raise $250,000 in the annual kettle campaign this year.
The need just keeps growing and the Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to man the kettles for this year's drive.
John Sanderson agreed to co-ordinate our club's involvement, arranging for members to work in three hour shifts at one of the locations.
The Chinguacousy Lions have committed to man the kettles at the Costco location for a five week period.
"My role is to ensure we raise more money than the Lion's club," John told Monday's meeting.
The money raised in Brampton, last year it was $233,000, stays in the community to help individuals and families in need.
Rachel said Rotary can help the Army in three ways:
1. Volunteers for the kettles
2. Fundraising ideas
3. Donations
