The annual Salvation Army Toss a Toonie campaign began in Brampton on Nov. 18 and runs through to Christmas Eve.

Last year the campaign raised $256,000 under the stewardship of campaign chair Mario Britto. But with demand growing, this year's target is $300,000. Mayor Susan Fennell is campaign chair.

The services provided by the Salvation Army, which affect almost one in 10 people in our community, include Christmas Assistance, Financial Services, Homeless Prevention, Food Bank, Clothing Support, Emergency Aid, Camping programs and Housing Assistance.
