Thunder Run is next

On June 26, more than 400 motorcycles will be roaring through the streets of Brampton to raise money for Easter Seals kids. Our club is sponsoring its 6th annual Thunder Run at Chinguacousy Park and it has become one of the top motorcycle rides in Ontario.
"Last year our Rotary club contributed $50,000 to Easter Seals and it's events like Thunder Run that make it possible," says Daisy Oliver, chair of the Rotary event.
Thunder Run is a motorcycle ride for Easter Seal kids, but in recent years it has become a full day of activity at Chinguacousy Park.
"On site we will have antique/classic, modified and British cars. And each year one of the highlights is "Show and Shine" - a competition for the best cars and bikes at the show. Even if you are not participating, it's great for spectators interested in vintage cars and motorcycles. It's a great event and the money goes to a good cause."
Daisy says the day starts with a free pancake breakfast for registered riders from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The ride gets underway about 10 a.m. and it takes about two hours to tour the roads of Peel Region. Once back, there is a barbecue with a beer gardens and then the judging begins.
In conjunction with Thunder Run, Rotary hosts a picnic for Easter Seals kids with games, activities, a barbecue and a Siberian Tiger.
"Every year we seem to add a new dimension. This event just keeps getting bigger," says Daisy.
The motorcycle ride is a culmination of work by the Rotary Club and a motorcycling touring club - The Mississauga Wings, a branch of the Gold Wing Touring Association.
"The Wings are a tremendous support and have contributed significantly to the success of this event. They not only help with the organization of the ride, they promote it all year long and most importantly they bring riders to raise money for Easter Seals," says Daisy.
"We seem to get riders from all over Southern Ontario. This year we hope to attract more Brampton riders. So, if you live in Brampton and own a motorcycle, come join us for a fun day."
Registration for the ride begins and 8 a.m., and the tour starts at 10 a.m. Pledge sheets are available at www.bramptonrotary.com. The route is also available on the website.
