The Citizens Foundation of Canada

 

The Rotary Club of Brampton’s speaker  July 20th was Mr. Aziz Rakla, President, from The Citizens Foundation  of Canada, a not-for-profit charity, thanking our club for the financial support  of seventeen thousand dollars given for educating children in Pakistan.   

 

Mr. Rakla presented a video on the 17 schools in Pakistan that have been built to help educate children, including girls.   The fee for students to attend these schools is 10 cents from parents who can manage giving quality education to their children.   Now these children can become successful in their lives, through the contribution given by Brampton Rotary Club.

 

These TCF schools now have over 165,000 students between the ages of 4 – 17 years with special focus on women empowerment.  They are all female faculty of 8,064 teachers.   This is one example of Dreams to Reality for education put forth through our local Rotary International Committee chaired by Badar Shamim.
