BRAMPTON YMCA TEEN NIGHT

The Rotary club of Brampton welcomes Ivan and Tamar from the Brampton YMCA who gave us an overview of the Teen Night Experience.

Every year thousands of Teens ages 13 – 18 walk through the doors of their local YMCA in Greater Toronto on a Friday or Saturday night. They are there to attend Teen Night. Some choose to play basketball, some to swim, some are there to work out and some simply to meet up with their friends. But no matter why they are there, they know they are welcome.

At the Brampton YMCA Teen Night, they create a safe space for teens to spend their Saturday night. They offer many options for participants during the program including sports, workshops, arts programs and opportunities just to talk to staff. In some cases, that’s what some of the teens appreciate the most. Many teens enjoy talking to the staff about their day or problems they may be having at school.

The YMCA’s Vision is “Our communities will be home to the healthiest children, teens and young adults.” Teen Nights is just one of the programs that the Brampton YMCA is offering to help the YMCA meet its Vision. With the support of volunteers and other community partners, they hope to continue to make this program a place for all Teens in Brampton to come and learn new skills and grow into leaders in their communities.
